Some of Aloysius O’Kelly’s paintings are instantly recognisable but up until recently little was known of the artist himself. Niamh O’Sullivan’s critical biography however opens the door to an interesting life of intrigue and mystery. His importance as an artist is only being fully appreciated now and this book provides a comprehensive study of his life and work. The combination of the book’s refined layout and artist’s striking images have resulted in a piece that is both revelatory and aesthetically pleasing.
