At the centre of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust’s new Red-Dog-designed visual language is a confident, professional logo that reflects its values and aspirations. Making reference to the rich heritage of the trust, whose role is, as a lay body, to look after the educational ethos and operation of Christian Brothers Schools, this carefully researched, highly memorable and unique visual stamp draws on the expressive, early Irish alphabet of Ogham, which can be found on the tomb of Edmund Rice at Mount Sion in Waterford. Treated in ERST’s new visual identity in a much more graphic, stylised way, the ancient system of marks are decidedly contemporary, forming an instantly recognisable brand marque. Moreover, they spell out the letters ‘ERST’, providing the trust with a logo that is original and relevant.
