I.D. Magazine (whose impeccable judgement is obviously beyond question!) gave Concern Worldwide’s 2010 Annual Report an honorable mention in their 2011 Annual Design Review.

The report, our thirteenth for the organisation, employed illustrative data visualization and beautiful imagery to convey the intense and varied nature of Concern Worldwide’s work and achievements.

In addition to this nod, Red Dog's design for Concern Worldwide's 2010 Annual Report also won the Annual Report Award at the Institute of Designers in Ireland Awards in October 2011.

We’re delighted that our efforts have been recognised and we’d like to thank Print Media Services, who printed the report, and our very own Kim Robinson who, as always, did a super job designing the Report. Well done, Kim!

You can take a closer look at the Annual Report on our website here.

*Yes, yes, we know that's the American spelling of honourable, but they've just given us an award – we're hardly going to start correcting them, are we?!

You may remember that, back in early December, we told you about an online poll to select the logo for Ireland's 2013 EU Presidency. Red Dog designed four distinct logo options and the public were asked to cast their vote during December to choose the favourite.

Well, between one thing and another, in all of the hullabaloo here (Red Dog does good hullabaloo!), we forgot to mention that a clear winner emerged in the poll and the chosen logo was launched last week by The Taoiseach, the Tánaiste and the Minister of State for European Affairs.

The winning option 'Spirals' got 36% of the public vote, edging out the closest runner-up 'Logotype' by over one thousand votes. No need for transfers or second preferences in this process and, as far as we know, there were no spoilt votes!

Taking the letter 'E' as a starting point, Spirals' inspiration is located in Celtic spirals and knotwork and creates a fluid, unified shape. Each 'E' is linked, working in harmony with the others, reflecting the ambition for a united, effective Presidency of the EU in 2013.

You can read more about the launch here. More information about the winning logo (and the ones that got away) can be found in the latest issue of Red Hot, our quarterly newsletter. You can view the newsletter here or get in touch with us and we'd be happy to send you a copy.

Brian Cunningham, Red Dog's man in New York City, has been invited to meet An Taoiseach Enda Kenny at a reception at the Irish Consulate on Park Avenue tomorrow. Of course, it makes it a lot easier for Brian that the Consulate is based just down the hall from Red Dog's sprawling, expansive office. You're looking at Red Dog's office in that picture. That's right - we have the entire building*.

Anyway, it'll be the first time the two of them have met each other. We're sure he's very excited about meeting a fellow Irish man who's over in New York looking for new opportunities and flying the flag for Irish enterprise. And Brian's equally as excited to meet Enda!

But seriously (folks), we expect that An Taoiseach will surely appreciate the potential of creative agencies setting up overseas. We're looking forward to hearing about it all tomorrow.

*not really - but, hey, this time next year....

Can anyone tell us where January went? The first month of this new year flew by in a reddish blur. Still, while there's still time, let's toast 2012 and look forward to a great year. The aim, as always, is to deliver the kind of great creative work that our clients have come to expect from us.

Looking around the studio at the moment, we're working on several reports including Glanbia's Annual Report, two new branding projects and a coffee table book. That's right - an actual, real book. The Kindle and the iPad haven't figured out a replacement for the coffee table book. Not yet!

Away from 'traditional' media, we're developing an app for smartphones, a website and some interesting brainstorming work for a large organisation. In addition, we're working on some pro-bono work for a new charity and a large submission, along with Trinity College, for European Funding.

Elsewhere, way out west, Red Dog New York has been up and running since November. Brian Cunningham is over there making great strides in the one of the most exciting and energetic cities (Dublin excepted, of course!) known to man or dog!

And that's not all. Red Dog The Store is barking away and establishing a presence in the online marketplace. We were delighted and greatly encouraged with the response to the store when we launched in November 2011. It's still early-ish days but we've got big plans for the coming year - we're particularly excited about a lovely new exclusive product that's coming soon. We'll tell you more just as soon as we can.

So, as you can see, we've got a lot of balls in the air at the moment. Long may it continue - we wouldn't have it any other way.

We'd like to wish you all the best for 2012. Remember to come back often to see our latest projects and to read our newest news. We're tweeting and facebooking (is that even a word?) away all the time too.

So keep in touch - we're never more than a click away!
