Kingspan is a global brand founded in Kingscourt, Co Cavan in Ireland in 1965. The Company has expanded into a business operating in over 70 countries, employing more than 10,000 people. It is the global leader in high performance insulation and building envelopes. Kingspan differentiates itself through its relentless development of innovative and patent-protected proprietary technology.
In our briefing with CEO, Gene Murtagh, we learned that Kingspan are driven by good design and innovation. Our creative team were eager to reflect this in the design of the 2016 Annual Report through the concept of completing the building envelope. We started the process by understanding exactly what Kingspan do. In the cover design the print finishes allude to Kingspan products, including insulated panels, insulated boards, access floors and Light + Air. These also informed the design of the graphs and pie charts.
The report includes architectural photography from across the globe with buildings that feature Kingspan products. We introduced a captioning device to outline the products used. The design incorporates colours from their corporate palette, as well as dusty pink (a reference to Kooltherm) and accents of metallic silver.
We included a fold-out world map to illustrate their global footprint. The financial statements at the back are printed on a soft, matte grey with a bright blue accent for headings and rules.
The design was interpreted for screen which allows you to view a digital summarised version of the annual report and download relevant sections in pdf format.
We wanted a fresh perspective for our 2016 annual report, and we engaged Red Dog who put forward some really innovative and original ideas. They quickly grasped the Kingspan ethos and understood our needs and requirements while bringing a sense of creativity to the project. They were a delight to work with and managed the project well. The end result was a very polished and impressive document with a modern twist, which was universally well received by shareholders and stakeholders alike.
